laura bollingerLAURA BOLLINGER has been a resident of Kona since 1976. She is originally from Northern California and attended Eugene Bible College. She came to the Big Island as Lead Singer in the Rock 'N Roll Band "BREEZIN", then settled down to raise her family in Kona. Later she became the Vocalist for the Bill Nobel Trio, performing at The Mauna Lani Beach Hotel. She has served as Master of Ceremonies, talent and pageant judge, has hosted, performed at, and produced numerous community charitable and professional events for over 25 years.

After starring in, directing and producing plays locally, Laura worked on major Motion Pictures, Television Shows, and Commercials on the Big Island as Talent, Agent and Casting Director. She has owned and operated her Entertainment Business, Encore Talent Agency, for over 20 years and represents hundreds of talented Hawaii residents.

Laura is the mother of Bret (Recording Artist / Bass Player / Song Writer for the Band PEPPER) AND Maggie (Cal-State Graduate and Manager / Instructor at Pacific Tennis in Southern California). Laura and husband, Roy Williams, enjoy tennis, gardening, and Lead Worship at Calvary Chapel Kona Coast. Upon marrying Roy, additions to Laura’s family include son-in-law Chris, daughter-in-law Ami , step-son Yesod , step-daughter Amanda and husband John , and step-grandchildren Devin, Madeline and Spenser.

Laura is strongly committed to volunteerism in her community and has served on many boards including WEST HAWAII TOBACCO FREE COALITION (WHTFC), SOROPTIMISTS OF KONA, AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION, KONA CRIME PREVENTION COMMITTEE and KONA AGAINST DRINK DRIVING (which she founded in 1991). She has read to children in grades K-3 as the character “LOLLIPOP THE CLOWN” in reading incentive programs in West Hawaii and is requested to speak to local Pregnant and Parenting Teens, by BIG ISLAND SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNCIL, to encourage self-esteem and motivation.

Laura has worked with Church Groups, High School Clubs, Sports Programs, Business Associates, Friends and Family in various projects to promote community awareness about the dangers of Drunk Driving. In past years you could find her and her Drunk Driving signs at the busiest intersections in Kona during holidays reminding drivers to “Please Drive Sober”.

Over the last 25 years Laura has organized several fund-raising events including some for families in financial need: LIZ VAUGHN, a talented Community Thespian who died of AIDS, High School Student ERIKA KIRN who was left paralyzed by a Drunk Driver, talented young Poet ROSIE BARTHOLOME stuck down and killed by a Drunk Driver, and the KENDRICK FAMILY whose 5 siblings were severely injured by a Drunk Driver resulting in the death of 11 year old JESSSE KENDRICK and unborn baby ANGEL.

In 1999 Laura instituted Kona Crime Prevention Committee’s “Police Officer’s Ball” to recognize and show support for West Hawaii’s Police Force, honoring the ‘Police Officer of the Year’, and as Vice-President of KCPC, presented awards for the ‘Officer of the Month’ Program.

The AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION presented Laura with the “Volunteer of the Year Award” both in 1996 and 1998, the "Distinguished Service Award" for the State of Hawaii for Continued Support Volunteerism in 1997, and in 1999 Laura was inducted into AHA’s “HALL OF FAME”.

In 1998 Laura was presented with an "OLA PONO AWARD" by Governor Cayetano on behalf of the WEST HAWAII TOBACCO FREE COALITION for their successful work with Hawaii’s youth in the area of Tobacco Prevention. Laura was Director of WHTFC for over 10 years.

The KING KAMEHAMEHA COMMITTEE of the BIG ISLAND of HAWAII recognized Laura’s efforts throughout the West Hawaii Community and honored her with the Title of “ THE 1998 WOMAN OF DISTINCTION ”.
